Abstract: | Pesticide use in agriculture has the potential to contaminate groundwater supplies. newlineAccording to studies, only about 0.1% of toxins widely used in agriculture reach the target newlineinsect. At the same time, the remaining pesticide residue enters into the atmosphere newlineinappropriately, polluting air, water and soil and poisoning or harming non-target creatures. newlineThis research work is essential because in our country, mostly groundwater is heavily newlineused for irrigation, agriculture and industrial purposes. Many surfaces and water-based human newlineactions pollute this valuable resource, including pesticides, for farming activities. In some cases, newlineover-exploitation has resulted in aquifer contamination. This research work aimed to measure newlinethe pollution caused by pesticides in the groundwater of the Kota region. newlineContaminant compounds of several pesticides have been identified in the groundwater newlineof the Kota region. Also, the current research demonstrates the influence and mobility of newlinepesticide use in the groundwater of productive agricultural areas of the Kota district in newlineRajasthan. The Pesticide Impact Rating Index (PIRI) model has been used to determine the newlineconnection between pesticide use and their mobility and toxicity on groundwater quality. newlineFour areas of the Kota district were selected for research work: Tathed, Raipura, Kheda newlineRasoolpur and Bundi Road of the Kota region. These areas were selected on the basis of the newlinefact that in these areas, excessive agricultural activities are taking place. Four pesticides, namely newlineAtrazine, Dimethoate, Chlorpyrifos and Malathion, were chosen for in-depth analysis based on newlinehow frequently they were used in the chosen areas. Four farms were selected at a certain newlinedistance to sample groundwater and soil in each area. newline newline |
