Abstract: | On-demand cloud computing has redefined the way organizations operate. The industry has accepted cloud computing and started using cloud-based software platforms, infrastructure extensively to streamline their processes, minimize operating cost and to reduce IT infrastructure complexity. The volume and rate at which the data to be processed is increasing exponentially every day and this has necessitated the business to scale up their services on demand and due to this, companies have started moving towards cloud service providers. The speed at which these clouds are formed suggest that the cloud computing not only meet the needs of enterprise computing, but also allow enterprises to focus on what they ought to do and not spending money and time on managing the physical resources. newlineThe Cloud Service Providers all around the world ensure that its customers get reliable service and high availability by running servers all the time. This has resulted in a high level of energy consumption of the data center and, as a result, a rise in the recurring cost of operations and maintenance. The energy consumption in the data center is high not only by overloaded servers, but also by idle servers and other underutilized hardware resource. Hence, conservation of energy is one main challenge of cloud computing, which demands the creation of Green Cloud Computing . This problem can be resolved by using techniques like load balancing, virtualization, Virtual Machine scheduling, Virtual Machine migration, resource allocation, and task scheduling etc. newline |
