dc.description.abstract | In present study aimed to evaluate various parts of the ten medicinal plants namely of Achyranthes aspera twig and root, Ficus bengalensis leaf and roots, Ficus racemosa leaf and bark, Holoptelia integrifolia leaf and bark , Mangifera indica twig and kernel. Melia azedarach twig and leaf, Mimosa pudica leaf and root, Spilanthes acmella flower and root, Vitex negundo leaf and twig and Urtica dioica leaf for 1. anticariogenic activities against most common oral bacterial pathogens. 2. phytochemical contents TPC, TFC, tannins, terpenes and alkaloids of the plants. 3. The study also aimed to develop herbal toothpaste formulation using plant extracts with best antibacterial activities. This study is successful in providing a very significant scientific data regarding the ten herbal plants out of which three plants namely M.indica kernel, H. integrifolia bark and V. nigandu leaf were established as the best with highest anticariogenic activities. The herbal formulation prepared with M. indica kernel and H. integrifolia bark extracts was highly effective against oral pathogens which after toxicological analysis and clinical trial could become a single solution of all oral problems and develop into commercially viableproducts. newline | |
