Abstract: The thesis A Stylistic Analysis of Popular Medical Prose: A Study of Selected Texts analyses and attempts to grasp the smooth access of best-selling authors to readers across disciplines. Through the use of their narrative technique, they have introduced the complex world of medicine to readers who do not have a medical background. The research establishes that the complex domain of medicine can be understood through varied stylistic devices and tools which are practically useful in improving the communicative competence of the target language learner as well. The stylistic analysis of lexis in Paul Kalanithi s memoir When Breath Becomes Air invites the reader to share his journey from a doctor to a patient. Siddhartha Mukherjee in The Gene exploits an excellent lexico-grammatical pattern to narrate the history of the gene which includes a timeline from Aristotle to 2015. Figurative expressions, for instance, simile, metaphor, hyperbole and so on are primarily used by S. K. Jindal in Medical Encounters to exert an aesthetic influence on and#61692; layman. Cohesive devices and techniques in Complications by Atul Gawande exhibit the complex world of medicine like delicate surgeries, difference between good and bad doctors and varied failures and success inside and outside operation theatres. The pedagogic implications of stylistics are incorporated throughout the research chapters to demonstrate that the underlying school of thought assists the language teacher to teach language through literature and particularly to the learners of the hinterland where most students suffer from an inferiority complex regarding English language and literature. The various methods and techniques of pedagogic stylistics can be incorporated to improve their language competence primarily in English that can assist them in improving their viewpoint to appreciate literature the heightened form of language.
