Abstract: Indian population is currently predominated by younger age group who shall contribute newlinesignificantly to the elder age group in future hence there shall be an increased incidence of newlinedegenerative joint disease such as osteoarthritis OA of the global disease and amp disability burden newlinefor OA knee OA constitutes 83 Percent It leads to pain around knee reduced ROM range of newlinemotion swelling reduced functional abilities Disability is the limitation in the ability to carry newlineout basic functional activities Being chronic in nature Knee OA causes long term pain and newlineassociated disability worldwide Prevalence of knee OA in Indian population may vary from newline22 percent to 39 percent overall prevalence 28.7 percent with unilateral knee OA prevalence approximately newline12.8 percent the prevention of knee OA progression or atleast slow does its progression is important to newlinereduce the burden on countrys future financial and medical resources Due to chronic nature newlineslow progression and lot of modifiable factors involved and hence early identification of knee newlineOA and amp timely intervention may slow down the progression of OA newlineKnee joint muscles weakness is a potential factor for knee OA disease progression and hence newlineknee strengthening is important to slow down the progression of disease it is not clear how the newlinestrength and functional performance varies among the different radiological severity of knee newlineosteoarthritis does Information about strength at various speed of muscle contraction in case of newlinedynamic movement type isokinetic concentric eccentric isometric functional performance newlineamong Indian patients suffering from knee OA is not available Due to this it cannot be newlinecommented if patients with normal strength are or not at need to start preventive muscle newlinestrengthening program newline newline
