Abstract: In the developed countries there is large-scale mechanization in construction and newlinethe management of construction is dependent on the optimum use of resources newlinesuch as men, machinery, and materials. Considerable manual labour are working newlinein Construction industry, in addition to mechanization. Safety in construction newlineindustry is important because this is prone to fatalities, and rate of fatalities in the newlineconstruction industry is found to be very high, because of the diversified work in newlinethe field. Over the years, hundreds of construction workers have died from newlineconstruction accidents. Many of these deaths could have been prevented if the newlineworkers are better educated on the hazards they may face on the job-sites. newlineConsuming drugs and alcoholism also constitute a major group of accidents. newlineAccidents occur due to long hours of work, unhealthy and unsafe work conditions. newlineDue to heart disease, cancer, stroke and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases newlinemany fatalities occur. Suitable preventive measures are to be adapted to prevent newlinethe accidents for the project. The accidents can be prevented by providing newlineadditional training to safety managers. Minimum of three meetings should be newlinearranged to discuss safety performance with field supervisors, project managers in newlinethe construction industry. Quantitative guidelines help companies establish newlineeffective safety programs. It is believed that the benefits of an effective safety newlineprogram, increase productivity, lower project costs, and improve reputation with newlineproject owners. newline
