A Micro Grid is a self-contained electrical network with its own generation, distribution and utilization systems. Although micro grids can be classified as DC micro grids, AC micro grids and AC/DC micro grids, the DC micro grids are more prevalent. There are many applications of micro grids in the domestic and industrial sectors. Now a day many home and industrial applications including industrial mechanical drive systems use DC sources for actuating special electrical machines that need sturdy DC sources. The different modern renewable energy sources like solar photo voltaic system and fuel cell system produce DC voltage sources. Globally, the Micro grids are encouraged in the consideration of adverse effects of a centralized generation of electricity and distribution systems. The generation of electricity is faced by the problems of depleting fossil fuel and harmful influence of conventional methods of power generation systems like the thermal power systems on the environment, particularly the threat of Global warming and associated climatic changes caused to earth. newlineA DC micro grid usually consists of a set of electrical power generating systems like the solar PV system, fuel cell system, wind energy conversion system etc. The different loads applicable to be operated by micro grid, include domestic electronic gadgets, industrial drives etc. A battery is an unavoidable entity in the micro grid system. The developments and advancements that are happening in the generation of electricity by renewable energy systems and handled by means of appropriate power electronic conversion systems have become possible because of the contemporary developments that have happened and that are happening continuously in the fields of power electronic semiconductor technologies and digital control systems implemented using modern digital signal processing and controlling systems. newline
