Abstract: The Welding Institute (TWI) pioneered Friction Stir Welding (FSW) in 1991 and which comes under solid-state welding technology. In conventional welding, the materials to be welded are melted and resolidified, but the FSW process works on the principle of severe material deformation. Welding defects occur mainly due to the melting of the base materials, which is considered the main source of welding defects. But, in FSW the materials are joined by the heat formed due to friction created by the welding tool on the surface of the materials to be joined. Aluminium Alloys (AA) have compounding qualities that make them useful in automobile components, although joining them can be difficult. The creation of intermetallic at the joint contact can cause disturbances that can decrease joint strength when joining similar and dissimilar Al alloys. AA5083 is a versatile alloy with a moderate magnesium content. newlineAA5083-H111 is a strain hardened, cold-rolled with high fatigue strength, enhanced formability, weldability, and workability with good corrosion resistance. The AA6061-T6 is selected for its toughness and high strength to weight ratio. AA6061-T6 has magnesium (Mg), and silicon (Si) as major alloying elements, and its main properties are it has good corrosion resistance to atmosphere and seawater, high toughness, good structural strength, and good surface finish, weldability and machinability. newline
