Abstract: | newline Student nurses are the leaders of future nursing profession and contributing ample for newlinesocial development, so each nursing student must have high self esteem and assertiveness newlineto succeed in their education and future life. The aim of the present study was to assess newlinethe effect of Assertiveness Training Programme on Self-esteem and Assertive Behavior newlineamong B.Sc. Nursing 1st Year Students. An experimental study was conducted among 400 newlinenursing students who were selected by using multistage random sampling technique i.e. newline200 for experimental and 200 for control group from selected nursing colleges of newlinePunjab. Rosenberg self-esteem scale and Rathus Assertiveness Schedule was used to newlineassess level of self esteem and assertive behavior. Assertiveness training programme was newlineplanned and nursing students of the experimental group were given training of newlineassertiveness for seven days in which 7 sessions were delivered. Control group subjects newlinewere not given any training. Data were collected thrice (i.e. pre-test, post-test 1 on 10th newlineday and post-test 2 on day 21st) and analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential newlinestatistics including t-test , repeated ANOVA, Post hoc analysis, and#967;2test and Karl newlinePearson s test. Assertiveness training was effective in improving self esteem and newlineassertive behaviour and maintained till 21st day follow-up. Finding shown that self newlineesteem and assertive behaviour score was significantly increased in experimental group newlinefrom pre test to post-test 1, post-test 1 to post-test 2 as compared to control group. Pre newlinetest self esteem and assertive behaviour had no significant correlation in experimental newlineand control group. It was concluded that Area of Residence had significant impact on newlinepretest level of self esteem and family type had significant impact on pretest level of newlineassertive behaviour among students in experimental group. Whereas in semester and newlineOccupation of Father had significant impact on pre test level of self esteem and Area of newlineResidence had significant impact on pre test level of assertive behaviour among students newlinein control group. |
