War Race and Religion Women Subjectivity in the Novels of Tahmima Anam and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Abstract

Divided into Five Chapters including Introduction and Conclusion, the thesis newlinelooks into women subjectivity vis-à-vis war, racism, and fundamentalism in the newlinethree novels A Golden Age (2007), The Good Muslim (2011), The Bones of newlineGrace (2016) of the British-Bangladeshi writer, Tahmima Anam and three novels newline Purple Hibiscus (2003), Half of a Yellow Sun (2006) and Americanah (2013) of newlinethe Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. By studying these selected newlinebooks, the thesis intends to explore women s empathetic reconstruction of the newlinedomestic and extra-domestic spaces of the war-devastated societies in Bangladesh newlineand Nigeria respectively and consequently, the difference they make to the world. newlineThe work investigates into the complex processes involved in their being and newline becoming in a war-riven society that is constantly in a state of flux.
