dc.description.abstractThe experimental and numerical studies on far-field pyroshock newlineresponses of composite panels are presented in this research. The study newlineconsists of three segments; firstly the effect of various parameters such as newlinethickness of laminate, velocity of projectiles and locations of accelerometers newlineon the distribution of accelerations on E-Glass/Epoxy laminates is studied. newlineSecondly the effect of orientation of fibers on the distribution of acceleration newlineon E-Glass/Epoxy laminates of different layers is studied. Finally the newlinecomparative study is made among Carbon-Epoxy, Glass-Epoxy and newlineKevlar-Epoxy laminates. newlineMore over the study is also about to find out the regions of newlinecomposite panel where the shock response is high and thereby the panel can newlinebe used as a testing bed to examine the electronic components which are used newlinein spacecraft and other air-vehicles. Experiments based on Bi-Plate newlineTechnology are conducted on different combination of E-glass/Epoxy newlinecomposite panel parameters. The structural responses are analyzed using newlinepanel parameters as well as Shock Response Spectrums (SRS) computed from newlinethe acceleration-time histories. The experiments are carried out for a low newlinerange of chamber pressure with projectiles of varying length to get the farfield newlineresponse of the test panel. The accelerations of the panel at selected newlinelocations are measured by the PCB accelerometers and NI-DAQ system with newlineLabView software. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for the pyroshock newlineenvironment is done using Abaqus/Explicit code. Due to the symmetry of the newlinestructure as well as the loading, only quarter portion of the panel is analyzed newline
