dc.description.abstract | Crystal growth can be treated as an important branch of material newlinescience leading to the fabrication of technologically important materials of newlinedifferent sizes. This thesis contains the growth of semiorganic, organic single newlinecrystals from p-nitrophenol, piperazine derivatives and various type of newlinecharacterization for NLO and THz applications. newlineChapter 1 describes the features of crystalline solids and adopted newlinethe various type of crystal growth techniques for different type of chemical newlinecomposition used to grow as single crystal. Nonlinear optical phenomenon in newlinesingle crystal, Role of plasma in nonlinear effect is briefly explained. newlineChapter 2 explains the semiorganic single crystals of potassium newline4-nitrophenoxide 4-nitrophenol dihydrate were grown by slow evaporation newlinesolution growth technique (SEST) using double distilled water as a solvent. newlineThe determination of a grown crystal structure was studied by single crystal newlinex-ray diffraction (SXRD). The presence of functional groups in different newlinemodes of vibrations is studied by Fourier transform infra-red technique (FTIR) newlineand Raman spectroscopic studies. The optical absorption behaviour in the newlineUV-vis NIR regime is carried out in the range between 200cm-1 to 1100cm-1. newlineThe photoluminescence intensity of this crystal exhibits in the visible regime. newlineThe thermal stability of the grown crystal is studied by Thermogravimetric newlineanalysis (TG) and Differential thermal analysis (DTA). The second-harmonic newlinegeneration (SHG) of the grown crystal is studied by Kurtz Perry powder newlineSHG method and the resultant values are compared with standard reference newlinevalues. newline | |
