Abstract: iii newlineABSTRACT newlineThis thesis investigates the aerodynamic design and structural newlineanalysis of small horizontal axis wind turbine blades via the computational newlinefluid dynamics (CFD) based approach and Finite Element Method (FEM) newlinebased approach. newlineNumber of blades was selected as per the design tip speed ratio. newlineAngle of attack and#945; and corresponding design lift coefficient CLD were derived newlinefrom the performance data of the airfoil. After identifying required input newlineparameters, the blade length was divided into nine sections from 0.2R to R, newlinethe chord and blade setting angle were estimated. NACA 63215 airfoil was newlinechosen for investigation as they have good low speed characteristics, airfoil newlinestations and ordinates for both upper surface and lower surface are developed newlinein a coordinate system. The airfoil shapes at every locations along the blade newlinelength were prepared and joined to form the blade geometry. Modeling of a newlineNACA63215 wind turbine blade was done using CATIA. newlineTwo dimensional NACA63215 airfoil were analysed newlinenumerically using ANSYS Fluent. The coefficient of pressure, coefficient of newlinelift and coefficient of drag were considered from 0° to 20° angles of attack. newlineMaximum coefficient of lift 1.1518 with stall angle of 14°, zero lift angle of newlineattack at -2° and maximum CL/CD 11.53 at the angle of attack 6° newline
