Abstract: In September 2015, theUnitedNations Assembly adopted the 2030Agenda for Sustainable newlineDevelopment that includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Among newlineall these goals, SDG 5 aims to achieve gender equality in all fields including education newlineand the labor market, and also to empower all girls and women. Gender equality and newlinewomen empowerment are vital foundation pillars for the economic development and newlinesustainable progress of any country. India is also committed to achieve SDGs by 2030 newlineand has undertaken various policy initiatives to promote gender parity. It has been newlinewidely recognized by economists that education and labor market participation are newlinethe two key instruments for empowering women.
