Abstract: | The present study was carried out on micronutrient deficiencies among slum women which is newlinevery high. The objectives of the study (1) To assess the nutritional status of selected slum newlinewomen in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. (2)To develop health education material (chart, posters newlinepamphlets) with regard micronutrient deficiencies and dietary approach for prevention of newlinemicronutrients based on KAP survey.(3)To develop an animated video film and perform live newlinedemonstrations and train women for imparting nutritional Education on utilization of the newlinemicronutrient rich foods by slum women of Eastern Uttar Pradesh.(4)To study the impact of newlinenutritional education imparted through the developed animated film and training on slum women newlines knowledge. newline204 respondents were selected for the study. By the questionnaire method data on dietary intake was newlinecollected by using 24 hour dietary recall method and the average nutrient intake was calculated by newlineusing the food consumption tables and compared with RDA. Height, weight and BMI were newlinemeasured. Health education materials and animated video film were developed. A knowledge test newlineschedule was used to assess the nutritional knowledge of respondents. Results showed that newlineprevalence of anemia in married slum women was found high. In the Pre intervention, the intake newlineof all nutrients in respondents was found below the recommended dietary allowances. The mean newlinevalue of height, weight and BMI were found less than the NCHS standard. Before intervention newlinenutrition knowledge test shows maximum respondents had low knowledge category. Knowledge newlineregarding iron deficiency anemia was increased significantly after given nutrition education to newlinethe slum women. By using animated video, increases knowledge level and attitude towards newlineidentification and utilization of plant that was rich in micronutrients. Knowledge regarding iron, newlineZinc, Calcium deficiency was increased significantly after given nutrition education to the slum newlinewomen. newlineKey words Micronutrient, utilization, Kap, Nutritionl Awareness |
