Abstract: | The tribal people are popularly named as Vanavasi (inhabitants of forest)Vanajati (castes of newlineforest)Janjati (folk people)Adimjati (primitive people)Anusuchit Janjati (schedule tribe) and so newlineon. Among all these terms Adivasi is known most extensively and Anusuchit janjati or schedule newlinetribes is the constitutional name covering all of them. As per the census of 2011 the tribal newlinepopulation consists of 8.6% while it was 8.2% according to the census of 2001. The Tharu is well newlineknown scheduled tribe of Uttar Pradesh. Tharus mostly live in the Tarai belt of Uttar Pradesh. newlineThe Region covers five districts of Uttar Pradesh namely Lakhimpur Kheri Balrampur Bahraich, newlineShravasti and Maharajganj. There are following objective 1:-To find out the socio- economic newlinestatus and life style pattern of adult tharu tribes. 2:-To study the health and hygiene practices of newlinerespondents. 3:-To assess the nutritional status of the adult respondents. 4:-To impart nutrition newlineeducation among the selected respondent and find out its impact on nutritional knowledge. newlineLooking to the nature of study descriptive research design was adopted. For the study of newlineNutritional status of adult tharu tribes there was 15 blocks in Bahraich district but its Nanpara newlinetehsil has 4 blocks in these 4 blocks only Mihinpurwa has tharu population.Rampurwa Vishnapur newlineFakeerpuri and Bardiya villages were selected purposely. Random sampling has been adopted for newlinethe study. 356 sample (211 female and 145 male) were selected for the study. 89 respondents newlinewere selected from each villege.The interview schedule was developed by self to assess the newlinebackground information of the respondents. The socio economic status of the tribal respondents newlinewas assessed by using the revised socio economic scale of Trivedi and Pareek.Proforma on newlineHealth and hygienic practices was prepared under the two section i.e. health and hygiene.
