Abstract: | The problem of routing in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) has newlinebeen well studied. Mobile users access various network services through their newlinemobile devices to perform various activities. It has become an important entity newlinein human life. As most activities are performed through mobile devices and their newlinecommunication is over the MANET, the quality of communication becomes a newlinemore important one. In general, data transmission is performed in a cooperative newlinemanner with the support of intermediate nodes. Accordingly, a number of newlinerouting algorithms have been discussed earlier. The basic and well-proven newlineprotocol is the Adhoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV), routing which newlineperforms routing based on the hop count of any route. However, there exist newlinenumerous techniques; the quality of service of MANET has not been achieved at newlinethe expected level. The reason behind the deficiency of QoS (Quality of Service) newlineis due to the lack of consideration of different parameters like Packet Delivery newlineRatio (PDR), Delay, Latency, Packet Loss Ratio (PLR), Bandwidth, Throughput, newlineEnergy, Link Quality, Path Stability and etc. However, it is actually important to newlineconsider the above-mentioned parameters to achieve higher QoS values in newlineMANET. newlineTo improve the performance and QoS of MANET, an efficient QoS newlineAware Routing (QoSAR) protocol is presented. This protocol considers the Link newlinequality and stability of routes in improving the QoS of the network and identifies newlinethe list of routes available between the Source (S) and Destination (D). From the newlineavailable routes, the Node Disjoint and Link Disjoint routes are identified in a newlineshadow-fading environment. This generates the backup routes which help at newlinereducing the frequency of route discovery and the latency in packet transmission. newlineBy identifying the routes with high-quality link stability and maintaining the newlinebackup routes, the QoS of the network has been improved. newline |
