Abstract: A new kind of antenna based on liquid metamaterial has gained popularity in the last few years. They provide an excellent alternative to conventional antennas. This work aims to analyze the performance behaviour of a liquid metamaterial-based patch antenna compared to the copper metamaterial-based microstrip patch antenna. Different results like reflectance response, gain, and bandwidth are analysed. The first approach considers metamaterial-based superstrates at the top of the patch. The metamaterial elements are designed using copper and liquid. The goal is to test and compare the concept hypothesis of both cases. In the second approach, Metamaterial elements are loaded on the superstrates region. Metamaterials are considered an array of square and circular shapes. Additionally, it serves as a radome. The superstrate layers contribute to the overall structural strength and boost antenna characteristics. In the third approach, tooths are attached to a split-ring resonator to check the frequency tunability and gain effect. Frequency tunability is accomplished by changing the charge distribution in the patch area using the switching diodes. Overall good gain with better tunability response needs to accomplished using low profile material. The comparison among simulated and measured results are carriedout. The frequency tunability response needs to be analysed for C, X and Ku to cover a broader range of applications like weather monitoring, defence tracking, vehicle speed detection, satellite communication, military aircraft, and point-to-point microwave communication. newline
