Abstract: Introduction: The conventional method of assessing Prakriti requires long Performa newlineand questionnaires. Most of the characters, described in Ayurveda texts, for the assessment of Prakriti are subjective and depends upon the perception of the examiner as well as the respondent and the objective characters described are also not well quantified. These subjective and unquantified objective predictors of Prakriti lead to gross chances of intra and inter observer variability in the assessment of Prakriti. Therefore, the true assessment of the Prakriti always remains questionable, newlineso a quantified objective parameter is required to develop for the assessment of newlinePrakriti. Aims and objectives: The present study has two objectives- 1. To find the prevalence of shape of hand (Hyperdolichocheir/ dolichocheir/ mesocheir/ Brachycheir/ hyperbrachycheir) in the male population of Delhi. 2. To find the relationship of the Prakriti with hand index, hand shape, hand area, and other measurements of hand. Methodology: 1. In the present study total two hundred (200) apparently healthy Delhi born male individual of age group 18-40 years were registered from the population newlineof Delhi after obtaining informed consent. Population for the present study was defined in terms of attendants of patients visiting the hospital, people residing nearby the hospital area, and staff/ students of the institute and hospital. 2. The mid interstylion dactylion length (mm) of hand and metacarpale ulnare metacarpale radiale breadth (mm) of hand was measured by digital sliding caliper as per SOPs. 3. The linear breadth between the most lateral point of proximal inter phalangeal joint of index finger and the most medial point of distal inter phalangeal joint of little finger was measured by the digital sliding calliper and divided by four to obtain the breadth of one angula. 4. All the measurements were taken in mm on both hands and recorded in the newlineProforma.
