dc.description.abstractToday, diesel engines are the most widely used power sources in newlinethe power generation sector and for Automobiles. They are preferred over newlinegasoline engines due to their better thermal efficiency and lower price than newlinediesel fuel. The major shortcoming when using a diesel engine is the newlineliberation of Nitrogen oxides (NOx) and Particulate exhaust emissions. NOx newlineemissions cause several hazardous effects on human health and the newlineenvironment; hence must be controlled effectively. NOx is said to be a newlinecollective term for NO and NOx emissions. Fuel combustion is the single newlinemost significant contributor to NOx emissions. Few of the currently used newlinetechniques for NOx reduction have several drawbacks. Some of the standard newlinemethods adopted to reduce NOx emissions are Exhaust Gas Recirculation newline(EGR), Lean NOx Trap (LNT), and Three-way catalytic converter. Even newlinethough these techniques are efficient in certain conditions, they have several newlinedisadvantages such as reduced mileage, expensive cost, and demand to newlineoperate the engine in alternating cycles of rich and lean conditions. In this newlinework, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is chosen as the preferred newlineafter-treatment technique to reduce NOx Emissions. Even though current SCR newlinesystems meet Euro 4-6 norms and achieve 90% of NOx conversion, it has newlinecertain limitations. Poor NOx conversion below 150and#8451;, constant refill of liquid newlinereducing agent, space constraints, catalytic poisoning, freezing of reducing agent, newlinepoor cold start performance are some of the shortcomings of SCR. newlineIn this study, the primary focus has been to improve the newlinelow-temperature NOx conversion of the SCR systems. The Catalyst and newlineReducing agent are the two most essential components of the SCR system newlinewhich affect the SCR performance. This work has explored innovation in both newlinethese areas to improve the low-temperature NOx conversion. newline
