Growth performance Resources use efficiency and Sustainability in Agriculture A case study of Madhya Pradesh

Abstract

With the help of institutional changes, technological interventions, social infrastructure development and policy support during the past one and half-decade, Madhya Pradesh made some noteworthy progress on the agriculture front. The state achieved a double-digit growth rate during the last decade in the agriculture sector. Nevertheless, inequality and regional disparities still remain a serious issue in the development process of the state. The study analyse the growth performance, resources use efficiency and sustainability in agriculture of the Madhya Pradesh state. Furthermore, the study suggested the way forward to sustain the growth path through resource use efficiency. The estimated results showed that the state able to earn an extra income around Rs. 1204 crore, just with the improvement on one per cent increase in resource use efficiency in selected crops. newline
