Abstract: In power distribution system the optimal functioning of the power newlinedistribution network is essential due to the increasing power demand and newlinesignificant power losses. In the current research, the optimal configuration of newlinethe Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) is designed with the newlinecombination of shunt and series filters in a smart grid with the responsive newlineload. A suitable solution is needed to reduce power loss and voltage related newlineissues such as harmonics in voltage, flickering in voltage, voltage sag and newlineswell and harmonics in current, reactive current and imbalance current is newlineproposed. The UPQC uses Direct Quadrature (DQ) theory to generate proper newlinefeedback signals to the controller and reactive power theory and instantaneous newlineactive power to avoid the power fluctuations in the grid system. newlineThe power electronic device is used mainly to enhance the energy newlinestability and to reduce the losses in industries and distribution areas. In newlinetransmission system, the power is affected by certain factors like sags, swells, newlineover voltage, under voltage and Total Harmonics Distortion (THD), in newlineaddition to the atmospheric conditions. So the power quality is not high at the newlineoutput side while the harmonics are high which causes the output becomes newlineunstable. A Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) is implemented with newlinethe help of the proposed control techniques like Adaptive Frequency newlinePassiveness Control (AFPC), Intrinsic Power Prediction Technique (IPPT) newlineand Instantaneous Energy Amendment Technique (IEAT) which is used to newlinereduce the THD and to provide stable power. This proposed technique is used newlineto inject voltages in the grid system with the help of the shunt filter and the newlineseries filter so as to compensate the voltage fluctuation problem in newlinetransmission line. The output of this system is monitored and is given to a newlinecontroller. This controller generates a pulse depending on the input signal newlinegiven to it. This pulse signal is given to a converter which helps to newlinecompensate the power fluctuation presented in the distribution system.
