Abstract: The multi-dimensional study was conducted to analyse the role of Kangayam cattle on newlinethe livelihood, socio-cultural, economic and psychological values of the farmers, to identify the newlineconservation attitude and its determinants, document the ethno-veterinary medicines and ethnic newlinepractices, analyse the Korangadu agro-pasture system and to conduct SWOC analysis and newlinedevelop suitable extension strategies for in situ conservation of Kangayam cattle. Ex- post facto newlineresearch design was adopted in this study with a sample comprised of 50 Kangayam cattle newlinefarmers each selected from Coimbatore, Erode, Karur and Tiruppur districts of Tamil Nadu newlinethrough Snowball sampling technique leading to a total sample size of 200 respondents. The data newlinewere collected using pre-tested interview schedule, focused group discussion and nonparticipant newlineobservation and were statistically analysed and results interpreted. newline
