Abstract: The present study was conducted to find out pathology of canine parvo viral infection in immune and non immune dogs, localization of CPV antigen in different organs of immune and non immune dogs using immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy and to determine optimum time for vaccination against CPV in pups based on the maternally derived antibody decay pattern. newlineThe results of HI and ELISA titers revealed maternal antibody titer declined up to fifth to seventh week in puppies from vaccinated dogs. In unvaccinated mother puppies showed very low titer. To conclude that moderate pathological lesions were observed in both unvaccinated and vaccinated due to vaccination failure and improper vaccination schedule. CPV 2a new variant is circulating in canine population in Tamil Nadu, no maternal antibody interference was observed in the vaccinal immunity in vaccinated pups and recommended time of CPV vaccination will be 5th to 6th week. newline newline
