Abstract: In fact, the electrical power system has been deregulated and restructured in some countries. The power industry is changed to a horizontally integrated structure from a vertically integrated structure. The Unit Commitment problem in vertically integrated environment is an important optimizing task in the day-to-day operational planning of the power system. It requires important attention to the effective operation of the power system. By creating a competitive market environment, the restructuring of the electrical power system has led to market-based competition. Throughout the years, the complexity of the power system is continuing to develop. High demand combined with an inefficient management structure and unreasonable tariff policies are the main issues in an interconnected power market with monopolies. Such issues affect the direction of the financial resource to help in raising the capacity to produce and tract. A restructured power system allows power suppliers to compete and allow the customers to choose their power suppliers at a lower cost. The principle of deregulation opens up the vertically integrated power system into Generation (GENCOs), Transmission (TRANSCOs), and Distribution (DISCOs) companies. In a restructured environment, the main tasks of the three components will remain the same as before, but by creating open market competition among power producers, it creates a market-based competition. According to these changes, traditional methods of generation of power have become the main challenges of generation companies. Problems such as economic dispatch and unit commitment need improvements. newline newline newline
