Abstract: | Introduction: Diabetes is one of the leading causes of morbidity and cardiac mortality worldwide. Gold standard in diabetes management is the level of HbA1c in blood, which reflects 3 months average of blood sugar level in hemoglobin A1 c fraction of RBC. This is more stable and not fluctuating like fasting or post prandial blood glucose levels. So if any treatment which can bring down the elevated HbA1c level is considered to be effective and statistically significant. Homoeopathy offers effective treatment for patients with elevated HbA1c level and it works for all age groups and in both sexes. A randomized controlled comparative study of two groups suffering from elevated HbA1c levels treated with homoeopathy was conducted, where one group is given with selected homoeopathic medicines and the other with placebo. newlineObjective: The objective of this study was to ascertain the effectiveness of homoeopathic medicines in the treatment of cases with elevated HbA1c levels. newlineMethods: 200 patients diagnosed as cases of elevated HbA1c levels in accordance with the inclusion criteria were considered for the study. 100 cases were allotted randomly to each Group I and Group II. Group I (homoeopathic intervention group-HI) patients were given the selected homoeopathic medicines. Patients in Group II (placebo group-PL) were given placebo. HbA1c level were considered for pre and post treatment assessment for both the groups. The values were assessed to evaluate and ascertain the difference in the outcome of the clinical efficacy between the two groups by hypothesis testing of dependent and independent samples by using SPSS. The data analysis was descriptive and Inferential. newlineResult: 200 diagnosed cases of elevated HbA1c level patients were taken into consideration for this study. The patients were in the age group of 30 to 60 years. Patients of both gender were treated. The commonly affected age group in my study was 30-39 and 40-49 years (82 cases in each group). Males were more affected than females (112 male and 88 female cases). |
