dc.description.abstract1) Abstract of proposed work plan: newlineThe thesis entitled Studies on Mixed Ligand Metal Complexes Including Schiffs bases and Heterocyclic Molecules as Ligands has been comprised of five chapters. First chapter deals with general introduction and literature survey related to coordination chemistry, Schiff s bases, transition metals and mixed ligand complexes of transition metals. Second chapter deals with synthesis of Schiff s base ligands and mixed ligand complexes using synthesized Schiff s base ligands and heterocyclic molecules such as 8-hydroxyquinoline and its derivative as organic ligands. Third chapter covers the instrumentation and physical techniques used for characterization of the synthesized compounds. Fourth chapter deals with results and discussion. Fifth and last chapter deals with biological activity of synthesized mixed ligand metal complexes. newline2) Review of Literature and Development in the subject (Previous work done in the related area): newlineThe selected topic includes synthesis of organic ligand molecules such as Schiff s base and synthesis of mixed ligand complexes using these ligands and hence we have focused on broad approach within two branches of chemistry viz. organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry. Hence the literature survey will include references on both these areas. Considering importance of the topic and a vast amount of literature published in this area, it is not possible to present a complete account of literature published at this point. Hence few references sufficient to correlate and justify the selection of topic are presented below as a sample. newlineP. Subbaraj et al1 have reported synthesis of NO type bidentate Schiff s base ligand and using this Schiff base as main ligand (HA) and 2-aminophenol as co-ligand (B), few novel mixed ligand complexes have been synthesized. The resulting Schiff base (HA) and complexes have been structurally characterized by UV-Vis., IR, 1H-NMR, FAB-Mass, EPR, XRD, SEM and magnetic studies. XRD and SEM reveal that all the complexes are microcrystalline na
