Abstract: | Ever-increasing problems like fuel shortage and escalating pollution newlinelevels are the major reasons for the development of recent vehicle technology. newlineMany countries have pledged to reduce the usage of gasoline and fossil fuel newlinevehicles and decided to increase the usage of electric vehicles due to newlineenvironmental concern. The greater penetration of Renewable Energy Sources newline(RES) in electric vehicle technology is proved by recently launched electric newlinevehicles like Tesla s car and Nissan s leaf. These types of electric vehicles are newlineenvironment friendly and are considered as green transportation system. At newlinepresent, more attentions have been paid in the field of green transportation newlinesystem. Among various renewable energy Sources, more attention has been newlinepaid to solar energy sources because of the enormous availability of solar power newlinein India. Also by considering environmental and economic benefits, newlinePhotoVoltaic (PV) source is recognized as one of the most suitable distributed newlineenergy source newlineThough the electric vehicle concept was in existence for long time, newlineit is not widely accepted by the consumer market. Lower drive range and longer newlinecharging time are the two major causes of people s reluctance to buy electric newlinevehicles. In this perspective, this work aims to model PV based electric vehicle newlineto enhance the drive range. This is done by integrating system with the proposed newlinehybrid intelligent controller. In this research work, solar energy has been solely newlineused to power small electric vehicle. Though PV source is considered as the newlinemost attractive energy source, it suffers from discontinuity over a day. So newlineintegrating PV source with electric vehicle needs the support of energy storage newlinesystem like batteries. Depending on the instantaneous power in PV array and newlinethe power requirement in EV, the charging and discharging scenarios happens newlinein the battery. newline |
