dc.description.abstractAIM 1. To compare the efficacy of Pathyadi churna with its Anupanas and Panchakola Kashaya in relieving the symptoms of Amajirna. OBJECTIVES 1. To have a literary review of Amajirna 2. To assess the efficacy of Pathyadi churna with Ushnodaka in relieving the symptoms of Amajirna 3. To assess the efficacy of Pathyadi churna with Masthu in relieving the symptoms of Amajirna newline4. To assess any side effects of Pathyadi churna while oral administration. DESIGN newlineA 3 group clinical study with pre-test and post-test design SETTING Vishnu Ayurveda College, Kulappully, Palakkad, Kerala newlineSTUDY DESIGN 150 patients suffering from Amajirna of age between 18 to 55 years were selected irrespective of sex, religion, occupation, habit etc. METHODOLOGY 150 clinically diagnosed patients of Amajirna (Dyspepsia) were selected based on inclusion criteria. The selected patients were given test drugs (Pathyadi churna with Ushnodaka and Pathyadi churna with Masthu) for 7 days and standard medicine (Panchakola Kashaya with warm water) for 7 days. The data were graded based on the assessment criteria and were analyzed statistically. RESULT The outcome of the treatment after 7 days were shown statistically significant result in the subjective parameters like Gatra Gaurava, Ganda Sopha, Akshikoota Sotha, Praseka, Utkleda, Yadhabhukta Avidagdha Udgara, nausea, bloating, early satiety, abdominal discomfort etc. overall effect of the treatment was shown statistically highly significant. CONCLUSION - Pathyadi churna with Ushna Jala gave better results in reducing the symptoms like Gatra Gaurava, Akshikoota Sotha and abdominal discomfort. Pathyadi churna with Masthu gave better results in relieving the symptoms like Ganda Sotha, Praseka, Utkleda, nausea, bloating and early satiety. Pathyadi churna with Ushna Jala and Masthu were equally effective in relieving Yadhabhukta Avidagdha Udgara. Overall, Pathyadi churna with Masthu gave better results than Pathyadi churna with Ushna Jala and Panchakola Kashaya.
