dc.description.abstract | Human resource is a major component of any research activity in social science as it not only constitutes a key input for all the projects undertaken but is also directly affected by the decisions made. While talking about the human resource, it is quite clear that male and female constitute its two broader components. There is a need to consider males and females separately as their respective situations. The patriarchal social set up has created a deep chaos in their societal situation and has put males in advantageous position in comparison to females. The concept of gender is social in nature and is based on societal stereotypes with which one is socialized after one s birth at different stages during one s life time. The inequality based on gender is well perpetrated by various social norms, ceremonies and belief system. It is quite established that sex is biological but gender is social. The concept of gender creates conditions of inequality for females in different fields including familial, social, cultural, economic, political and legal. | |
