Abstract: | The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of thermo-chemical disperser disintegration (tcd) and disperser coupled with surfactant pretreatment on the aquatic weed for anaerobic biodegradation and to investigate the impact of soluble lignin on biomethanation and energy efficiency. the present study affords the outcomes attained from laboratory scale investigation of disperser coupled with thermochemical (tc) and with non-ionic surfactant triton x-100, tween-80 and briji-35 of the lignocellulosic biomass. in the first phase of study, the tcd process is carried out by varying the rpm (4000-24,000), ph (9-12) and temperature (50-100oc) for optimization. the tcd process was found to be efficient at 12,000 rpm and 11 mins and the optimum thermo chemical conditions was found to be (80o c and ph11).the cod solubilization was found to be around 30% for achieving biodegradability of about 0.3 g-cod/g-cod. 30% solubilization was found to beneficial in terms of energy and cost benefit ratio. in the second phase of study, the disperser pretreatment was employed at the optimum condition of 12,000 rpm at 30 mins and it is coupled with surfactant triton x-100 to efficiently disintegrate the lignocellulosic biomass. in the disperser coupled with triton x-100 pretreatment, the dosage of 0.4 mg/g was considered as the optimum condition for effective solubilization and efficient methane generation. the solubilization of disperser coupled tritonx-100 was found to be 23.8% and it was greater than disperser pretreatment which was found to be 14.6%. the biomethane potential assay (bmp) results explained that disperser coupled triton x-100 sample has greater methane potential of about 0.254 g cod/g cod than the disperser pretreatment (0.164 g cod/g cod) ii in the third phase of study, the disperser pretreatment was employed at the optimum condition of 12,000 rpm at 30 mins and it is coupled with surfactant tween-80 for effective solubilization and efficient methane generation. the solubilization of disperser coupled tween-8 |
