Abstract

This research is divided into six chapters in which the first chapter is dedicated to the definition of journalism, types of journalism and the beginning and development of Urdu journalism. Nobody can deny the importance and usefulness of the role played by Urdu journalism in national unity, freedom struggle and society reformation. Because of this reason, the second chapter was titled as the role of Urdu journalism in national unity and reforming society. In the third chapter, the important scholarly journalists and their journalistic services from 1800 to 1900 have been analysed. In Chapter four, important scholars and journalists and their services in journalism from 1900 to 1960 have been discussed in detail. The fifth chapter focuses on journalistic services of governmental and non-governmental organizations of the time. In the sixth chapter, the summary of the thesis has been given and at the end of the thesis, a list has also been prepared that includes works cited and consulted. I firmly believe that this research will not only give a new dimension to research in Urdu literature and journalism but also add a new chapter in the discipline. newline
