Abstract: newline The Indo Gangetic Plain acquired significant interest among earth scientists newlinein the last three to four decades. Significant sedimentological, geomorphological, newlinechronological, and neotectonic work has been done in the Ganga Plain, as well as channel newlinemigration. The work done in Ganga plain was used to link these Quaternary sediments newlineto predict future changes in the environment, as well as in conjunction with the evolution newlineof the Himalayas, which resulted from a continent-continent collision between the Indian newlineplate and the Eurasian plate. Ganga Foreland Basin is a site of active fluvial newlinesedimentation, which offers an opportunity to study the response of a fluvial system to newlineforeland basin processes, namely intra- and extra-basinal tectonics, climate change, and newlinebase-level changes.
