Abstract: | The specific objectives of the study were: (i) to compile the various Prana vidya principles and newlinepractices described in various texts; (ii) to adapt and apply these as an intervention technique; (iii) to newlineexamine the effects of Prana vidya practices as an intervention technique on cognitive abilities: newlineintelligence (Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Performance Quotient (PQ)), attention and concentration, newlineand spatial memory; and (iv) to study the correlation between the Agya chakra and cognitive abilities, newlineas the Agya chakra is largely said to be associated with the cognitive functions of the brain. newlineMaterial and Methods newlineThe present study was a randomized control trial carried out to examine the effect of a 5-week newlineintervention on the cognitive abilities of adolescents. A sample size of 36 adolescent participants newline(mean age ± SD, 12.82 ± 1.46 years) was obtained for this study. As an intervention, five distinct newlinePrana vidya practices (the introduced technique PVPCE) were given every day for 35 minutes. The newlinePVPCE technique comprises the following practices: (i) Storing the prana; (ii) Pranic pathway newlinepurification; (iii) Shambhavi mudra and prana transmittance into the agya chakra; (iv) Pranic ball newlinevisualization for brain energization; and (v) Pranic relaxation. The following assessment tools were newlineused to assess the cognitive abilities: (i) Bhatia s Battery of Performance Tests of Intelligence newline(BBPTI) for Intelligence (IQ and PQ), (ii) Six-letter cancellation task (SLCT) for Attention and newlineConcentration, and (iii) Corsi block-tapping task (CBTT) for Spatial Memory. newlineXVI newlineData analysis newlineThe average value (arithmetic mean), standard deviation (SD), and standard error of the mean (SEm) newlinewere calculated, followed by the sample correlation as the degree of a linear relationship between newlinepre- and post-indices. The paired t-test was performed to compare the performance between pre and newlinepost-situations. Repeated-measures-analyses of variance (RM-ANOVA) was also carried out newlinecomparing factor A groups (experiment, control) and factor B timepoints |
