With the agrarian question as a central concern of the thesis, the focus of the study is to revive the class analysis to understand the changes in production structure and production relations of agriculture in the rural Haryana. For this purpose, a new methodology has been proposed to identify and differentiate the peasant classes under the capitalist agriculture. The new methodology has been named Surplus Extraction Index (SE-Index), which comprises the hired-in, hired-out, leased-in, leased-out, machine used, machine-out and machine-in labour for the identification of the peasant classes. The analysis done in the economic class framework has helped to identify the effect/impact of the capitalist development in agriculture on the different peasant classes under the varying production conditions in the two selected regions in the state of Haryana. The data has been analysed from the primary survey which mainly seek to identify the factors underlying the changing rural class structure. Along with it, the secondary sources of data have also been analysed to examine the development of capitalism in Haryana s agriculture. newline
