The issue of entrepreneurship does not merely contribute to newlinefurther enhancement of academic knowledge as regards to its relationship with economic newlinedevelopment, but also provides impetus to the development of the country. Women newlineentrepreneurs are increasingly being considered to be an important catalyst for economic newlinegrowth and development, as they contribute substantially to employment generation and newlineutilization of resources. Women perform the entrepreneurial role because of a desire to have newlineeconomic independence, high need for achievement, support from husband/family venture newlineinto enterprise building, whether small/ large/medium/micro/tiny. newlineThe present research is carried out to review the Development of Women newlineEntrepreneurship in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, to examine the socioeconomic newlinebackground newlineof newlinewomen newlineentrepreneurs newlinein newlinethe newlineregion, newlineto newlineknow newlineambitions, newlineaspirations newline newlineand newlineattitudes newlineof newlinewomen newlineentrepreneurs newlineas newlinea newlinepart newlineof newlinetheir newlineentrepreneurial newlinemotivation, newlineto newlineidentify newline newlinethe newline newlinechallenges faced by women entrepreneurs in their managerial performance, to know newlineempowerment in the perceptions of women entrepreneurs, to appraise the existing managerial newlineperformance of women entrepreneurs and to offer suggestions for the development of women newlineentrepreneurship in the region. newlineThe analysis is based on primary data, collected through a pretested questionnaire. newlineStatistical tools such as correlation, chi-square test and ANOVA test are used to analyze the newlinedata. Based on the results, only partial evidence is available to say that socio-economic newlinecharacteristics have their impact on development of women entrepreneurship and women newlineempowerment. It is found that the entrepreneurial motivating factors among women in the newlineregion are uniform.
