Abstract: newlineAuthentication is one of the key aspects that establish the information security. When a newlineuser is to be authenticated in a cloud environment, the deployment of a strong, effective newlineand robust authentication system becomes a crucial requirement especially when the newlineaccess is to be granted for financial and critical data access applications. The usage of a newlinesingle factor knowledge based scheme solely does not meet the security requirements. newlineThe usage of a possession based or a biometric based scheme also does not prove a userfriendly newlineand a cost-effective solution as it incurs huge set up and maintenance expenditure newlineand interferes with the privacy of the users by invading their biological factors.
