Abstract: | In this study, an attempt has been made to explore the correlation of serum adipokines newline(Leptin, Vaspin) with lipid profile, fasting plasma glucose, HbA1c, postprandial newlineglucose and oxidized LDL as inflammatory markers for cardiovascular risk between newlinediabetic and non-diabetic patients and with anthropometric variables in patients with newlineType 2 DM.This study is intended to compare the serum adipokines and atherogenic propensity by newlinecomparing atherogenic index, lipid profile, HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose with newlineoxidized LDL level as a marker for cardiovascular risk between diabetic and nondiabetic patients. newlineWe recruited a total of 240 subjects which were divided into two equal groups of 120 newlineeach. Group and#1030; included 120 newly diagnosed Type 2 DM patients attending the newlineMedicine OPD. In group and#1030;and#1030;, 120 non-diabetic subjects were included in the study of newlinecontrols. newlineOur data came out with a significant increase in the parameters like serum Leptin, newlineVaspin, oxidized LDL, HbA1c, plasma glucose concentration, postprandial plasma newlineglucose, atherogenic index (TC/HDLc), serum lipid profile (TC, LDLc, TG, VLDLc) newlineand decrease in serum HDLc in diabetic patients in comparison to non diabeticpatients. The body mass index was positively correlated with Vaspin, Leptin, LDLc newlineand Atherogenic index in T2DM patients. A direct association had observed between newlinethe level of Ox-LDL, FBS, PPBS and HbA1c values in T2DM patients. There were newlineinverse association observed between the level of Vaspin, FBS, post-prandial plasma newlineglucose and HbA1c values. newline |
