Abstract: Bicycle is a sustainable, green, healthy and affordable transport, which caters to 50% households of India, a lifeline for 11 crore poor commuters. It, however, suffers on account of demand and supply issues of short- and long-term relevance. The issues concerning this mode of transport relates to the increasing imports from China, Taiwan and Europe. The vision of the Indian bicycle industry is to become a world leader in design, engineering and manufacturing of lighter, smarter, value-added, safe and faster premium bicycles, which are compatible with minimum, mandatory global standards for exports and domestic market. The industry also has dreams of growing in volume to over 50 million per annum by 2025 and generating additional 1 lakh jobs. This will be an overarching standing mechanism to address bicycle promotion- related to improve competitiveness and level of customers services; technological transformation and ensuring operational excellence of bicycles made. newlineBicycle manufacturing supply chain management is central to providing product and services at the right place, right time, right delivery and right price. The way supply chains are operated has a massive impact on the speed and quality of service that can be provided. Supply chain risks and challenges are among the factors that can adversely affect the performance of an organization and may even lead to closure of an organization. Knowing how to anticipate and manage supply chain risks is therefore an important approach to maintain a competitive advantage. The BPR can aid organizations in delivering a higher quality to their customers. In process-centered organization, a work team handles a product manufacturing process. They understand each step of the process and have full control of the whole process. Any problems occurring during manufacturing can be detected as early as possible and the work team can take corrective actions to resolve problems. As a result, companies can produce better products than before.
