Abstract: In the recent years, there is a tremendous demand for increasing the efficiency of Internal Combustion engines. Due to strict pollution control norms and environmental pollution control, modifications in engines have been attempted for controlling emissions from Internal Combustion Engines. Coatings on pistons have been adopted for effective combustion control for enhancing engine efficiency as well as reducing the emissions. In this research, an attempt was made for enhancing the overall Internal Combustion engine performance and reducing the emissions by using coating the pistons. The piston of the internal combustion engine was coated with ZrO2 (Zirconium Dioxide) and Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) by using an advanced highly efficient coating technology such as High Velocity Oxy Fuel Thermal Spray method. newline
