Abstract

Fire was a turning point in human development but it also proved to be one of the most destructive experiences to humankind. Technological developments leads to the construction of gigantic buildings in metros and other big cities which have shorten the space to live and work that has paved the way to big fire incidents in the country resulting into life and property losses. The National Building Code-2016 is a national instrument and a comprehensive building code which is required to be followed by states in their building regulations and fire prevention and safety laws. The Code covers the detailed guidelines for construction, maintenance and fire safety of the structures. Part 4 of National Building Code on Fire and Life Safety covers the requirements for fire prevention and life safety in buildings. Existing fire safety rules and regulations in India must be adopted strictly for the prevention of potential fire hazards. newline
