Abstract: The modern era of drug resistance and dearth of new antimicrobial compounds has led to the search for newer eco-friendly alternatives to chemical compounds. Propolis, a bee product is a promising candidate owning to its multiple positive effects on various physiological processes. The present study was undertaken to explore the antimicrobial and antibiofilm potential of North Indian Propolis both as ethanolic extract and as chitosan encapsulated nanoparticles. The study depicted that nanoparticulate propolis exhibited a higher efficacy in scavenging clinical biofilms as compared to ethanolic extract. Further the biofilm formation was significantly reduced on indwelling devices upon coating with propolis based nanoparticles. newline
