dc.description.abstract | quotDuring the past several decades, groundwater quality has emerged as one of the major newlineand confronting environmental issues especially in India. As the surface water resource is newlinebecoming scarce, the pressure on groundwater is increasing to meet the ever increasing newlinewater needs. Attention on water quality and its management has become the need of the newlinehour because of its far reaching impacts on human health. Water management is a newlinediverse area with linkage to different sectors including the agricultural, industrial, newlinedomestic/household, power, environment, fisheries and transportation. There are various newlinekey issues related to conservation of depleting ground water resources like soil newlineconservation, flood control and awareness levels etc. The development of agriculture is a newlinekey factor in the economic development of a country like India. This is because newlineagriculture is the main source of sustenance for the majority of the population newlinecontributing 46% to the gross national product (GNP). The future of water quality at newlinelocal, regional, and global scales depend on investment of individuals, communities, and newlinegovernments at all political levels to ensure that water resources are protected and newlinemanaged in a sustainable manner. This includes not only technological solutions to water newlinequality problems, but also changes in human behavior through education and capacity newlinebuilding to conserve aquatic resources.quot newline newline | |
