Abstract: | With the technological advancements, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) are widely employed in industrial applications like robotic modules, computer numerical machines, machine tool applications, rolling mills, process industries and so on. PMSM has gained its importance in real world scenario based on its efficiency, better power factor, minimal weight, high power density, maintenance free mechanism, smaller in size than direct current and induction machines; due to which these motors are currently preferred in diversified applications. There is need for suitable controllers to carry out necessary control action on the PMSMs so as to enable them to operate in a stable manner overcoming the nonlinearities. newlineOn the varied applications of PMSM in current scenario, an accurate control action is highly required on this motor. Due to which, this thesis work is designed to develop suitable controller models for enhancing the motor to operate at the specified speed based on the application for which they are employed for. In spite industrial controllers like Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) are able to perform suitable control action, there is always a need for better controller performance minimizing the settling time and overshoot characteristics to the maximum possible extent. The advancements in soft computing techniques are immense and they have wide variety of applications in controller models of various engineering and science applications. Thus, this thesis is intended to develop numerous hybrid soft computing models along with designed new multi-level inverters for the speed regulation of permanent magnet synchronous motor. The contributions made in the thesis are presented below newline |
