Abstract: newline quotDeccan volcanic province (DVP) occupy central and western parts of India and form one newlineof the Large Igneous Province s (LIP s) and is a result of mantle plume-lithosphere newlineinteraction (Bryan et al., 2010). The Deccan Trap basalts have erupted 65 Ma (Baksi newline1987, 2014; Pande, 2002; Chenet et al. 2008) on the Archean crust of the Indian shield newline(Chakrabarti and Basu 2006; Ray et al. 2008). These traps have erupted in a span of 4-5 newlineMa covering the older formations of Dharwar, Aravalli, Bastar and Bundelkhand cratons newlineand the Satpura mobile belt (Bhattacharji et al.,1996; Hofmann et al., 2000; Chenet et al., newline2008; Bastia and Radhakrishna, 2012) and occupy an area of ~ 0.5 million sq. km in newlinecentral and western parts of India. It is associated with the breakup of India from newlineSeychelles (Norton and Sclater, 1979; Courtillot et al., 1986; Royer et al., 1989).quot newline
