dc.description.abstractThe word family originates from Latin word meaning household which signifies the attachment, affection, togetherness and bonding may it be social, psychological, emotional of all the members of the family. The holistic family environment deeply affect all the aspects of an individual from cradle to grave and indeed more so in making career decisions. The career is influenced by Attitude, skill and knowledge possessed by an individual which are in true influenced by the family environment in which one lives. A young adult develops his or her performance regarding career on the basis of values, norms, ethics and customs of their family , afterall it is with the support and approval of family for pursuing any career. The sample size for this research is 300 young adults consists of 150 males and 150 females in class 11th and 12th in private and government schools of Chandigarh. The study will be done with the help of Family. Environment. Scale (FES) by Prof. (Dr.)N.K.Chadha and Dr. Harpreet Bhatia, Adult. Attachment. Scale by Collins and Read (1990), Career. Decision. Self Efficacy. Scale by Nancy E. betz and Karen M. Taylor (1983). Stasticals tools like mean, standard deviation,t-test,ANOVA, Bar diagram, pie chart etc., will be used for proper analysis of data which would lead us to conclusion and inferences highlighting the role of family environment in career decision making of young adults.
