Abstract: | Modern digital civilization is supported by computer networks that allow various digital devices to connect with each other from any location at any time. These digital devices forwards data packets through different intermediate nodes such as, switches, routers and more middle boxes. In the conventional network there are several challenges like, scaling the networks, vendor dependency for intermediate devices, frequently changing the routing policies, reliable and secure network services to end users. In conventional network the configuration of network polices are manging by network administrator manually. The massiveamount of data flow by digital devices and dynamically changes in topologies needs frequent updation in routing policieswhich is not feasible manually. The large amount of data traffics are being generated by various digital devices which induces network congestion. To addresstheseissues, the concept of Software Defined Networking (SDN) came into existence. newlineSoftwaredefined network is the modern networking architecture which is adaptable, cost effective and dynamically manage the routing policies, to avoid the network congestions and also suitable for real-time applications. SDN is a programmable network which separately manage the control plane and data plane to improve the performance efficiency of network. newlineIn SDN,the controller at control plane is used to make the routing decisions and gives the central view of entire network. Whereas, thedevice at data plane forwards the data packets based on controller sdecision. Managing the wide area network by a single controller is not efficient due to massive data processing by data plane devices. To process massive amount of data researches are focusing on multiple controller placements in network. Multiple controller placement is a NP-hard problem because number of required controllers and their placements in networks can notsolved in polynomial time. There are different digital devices connected in networks are manged by various controllers. To proces |
