Abstract: | In recent era of mechanical, automobile, aeronautical and marine engineering for many applications in the heavy components of the industries requires distinctive properties like high density, more surface finish, high hardness, superior wear and corrosion resistance. Hence, such requirements components were manufactured to attain the necessary properties to work under harsh environment as well as given condition without earlier degradation. These properties may achieve by selecting the proper manufacturing technique. The 3D printing also popularly known as additive manufacturing (AM) has considerable attention in the aerospace, automobile, marine and medical industries because of its capacity to produce components that are prohibitively expensive and not viable to manufacture by using conventional processes. Due to this reason utilization of additive manufacturing has been increased now a day in various industries. Among the different additive manufacturing processes, selective laser sintering (SLS) is the high potential process to produce the complex parts of aeronautical, automobile and some critical medical implants. As compared to conventional manufacturing processes the selective laser sintering process gives high quality material efficiency, supply efficiency, flexibility in the production and accuracy in obtained dimensions. This can guide to massive savings in terms of expenditure and components working life. The accessible literature on different additive manufacturing processes and raw material used shows that wide research has been conducted in this field. It is also understood that selective laser sintering process is the most proficient manufacturing process that can be used for complex and intricate parts of various fields and different kind of raw materials, specifically metallic materials, plastic, ceramic and cermets which having higher the melting point. Inadequate research work has been reported on selective laser sintering of Inconel 718 powder particles and not a larger extent consideration i |
