Abstract: | Worldwide studies and the on the efficacy of allicin during past 20 years have revealed an irresistible probability to act as a therapeutic agent for many long-lasting degenerative diseases that had threatened mankind and were supposed to be a lifestyle, infection and genetic in terms of origin. The wonderful oregano-Sulphur constituent of garlic, Allicin the so-called most potent nutraceutical present in garlic has been implicated to show a diverse range of medicinal actions against several life-styles, microbial and other diseases of genetic origins such as cancers. Finding the most competent routes of Allicin administration as a part of therapeutic procedure are also needed. Studies would also decode its molecular actions and interactions within living systems so that its claimed appropriateness as a budget friendly option in terms of nutrition and therapy lead to a cancer free world. The present piece of research and study aims to examine the effectiveness of allicin as an anticancer plant derived biochemical on its treatment into cultured breast cancer cell lines which intend help in the process of designing plant-based and cost-effective anticancer treatment agents. In connection, the study also includes determining enzymatic as well as non-enzymatic activity in cultured breast cancer cell lines on treatment of allicin. The work also demonstrates apoptotic death induction and oxidant induced damage on the said cancer cell lines on allicin treatment. newlineAs a part of our study the various assays and estimations of enzymic antioxidants such as catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione s transferase and peroxidase were done on these cultured cell lines by treatment with different increasing concentrations of Allicin as compared to untreated control for the same time duration. Further more non-enzymic antioxidants such as hydroxy radical scavenging activity and superoxide radical scavenging activity were studied on allicin treated as well as untreated breast cancer cell lines for a comparison of the efficacy of al |
