Abstract: newline ABSTRACT newline Lingerie is a primary element of contact with the body, therefore generates a newlinespecial attention from an aesthetic and technical point of view. Since always related newlinewith the sense of shame, it has the functionality to hide what the vision offends (Filipe newline2018). It is the fitness factor which has given rise to the sales of sports brassieres and newlinebriefs that suit the sporting activities of women. The present study is aimed at assessing newlinethe knowledge, attitude and practice of adolescent girls on lingerie selection, healthy newlineusage and care and development of a need based educational intervention programme. newlineThe adolescent girls studying 6th class to 2nd year degree in Chittoor district constituted newlinethe sample frame/ population. The Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh was selected newlinepurposefully as the study area, using the cluster sampling method. A sample of 150 newlinegirls of 3 age groups were selected from Municipal corporation, Tirupati, 150 girls of 3 newlineage groups from Madanapalle municipality and 150 girls of 3 age groups from newlineChandragiri Mandal headquarters. The purpose of selection of sample from 3 types of newlineareas was to see the difference in selection, healthy usage and care of lingerie. In order newlineto study the levels of support rendered by the sales persons and the customer newlinesatisfaction a sample of 50 customers shopping lingerie shops in the study area were newlineselected. A sample of 30 sales persons were selected from the 25 shops selected for the newlinestudy. The knowledge of sales persons on lingerie was assessed by administering a newlinespecially developed scale. The sample for the intervention programme consisted of 120 newlinegirls aged between 13 to 15 years and studying 9th class in two high schools of Tirupati, newlineChittoor District and Andhra Pradesh. The tools developed for present study were ; newlineLingerie educational need identification scale, General information schedule, KAP newlinescale on lingerie, a scale on market survey and consumer satisfaction on levels of newlinesupport from lingerie sales persons, Lingerie sales persons knowledge scale, newlineDevelopment of educational intervention manual. The research reveals that there was newlineno significant difference with in control group with regard to the pretest and posttest newlineKAP scores. There was significant difference between pretest and posttest KAP scores newlineof experimental group before and after the intervention. The results permit to conclude newlinethat the Lingerie Educational Intervention Programme (LEIP) was effective as the newlineexperimental group of girls improved in their KAP significantly after the intervention newlineat 0.01 level.
